&lt;p&gt;KM Malta Airlines Limited, the national airline of the Maltese Islands, is seeking to recruit a &lt;strong&gt;Crew Controller &lt;/strong&gt;within the Operations Control department.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Purpose of Position&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The position reports to the Director Operations Control (DOC) and, whilst on shift, to the Duty Operations Manager (DOM), for the purpose of ensuring the legal and efficient day-to-day deployment of cockpit and cabin crew. In all decisions, the employee must ensure that all legal and contractual limitations are observed and that they always act in the Company&#039;s best interests. The position ensures legal and efficient crew operations in line with the EASA Flight Time Limitations and Company’s policies and procedures. The role manages crew deployment once rosters are handed over, maintains professional communication with crews, and uses operational systems and the Shift Log, accurately and efficiently.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Responsibilities&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Prepare crew assignments for the following seventy-two (72) hours of operations according to the above-mentioned checklist, paying particular importance to aircraft type, airport category, and crew complement. This also includes the checking of the anomalies summarised in the legality window and taking due proactive action to avoid infringements.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Always update the DCO system properly, clearly indicating mutual changes, sick reports, etc.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Cross-check of pick-up sheets against the legality checker and updating the Shift Log.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ensure that crew deployment is as per Company / legal requirements and exigencies.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Arrange replacement crew for flight or standby duties when crew members report sick or become unavailable for any other operational reason. Maintain the crew sickness register and ensure all crew sicknesses are reported in accordance with Company procedure&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Advise crew planning when any planned check flight is cancelled.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Duly advise crew, by adequate means, who are to operate from standby.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Advise crew at the earliest opportunity, regarding changes to the flight programme, including flight cancellations.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Answer and action all crew calls, including requests, if the latter do not infringe the Flight Time Limitation scheme and no additional costs are involved.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Advise crew next of kin regarding late arrival of flights, especially in case of AOG / unscheduled layovers.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Bring to OC&#039;s attention any item/s requiring action and/or immediate attention.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Supervise crew transport arrangements for pick-ups/drop-offs with the least expenditure.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Action as necessary any operational changes received for the current month.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Update the flight following system (movement control) with information as received from the schedules planning / commercial / charters section for the current week.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Prepare and update the daily movement sheet as a manual backup for the movement control.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Forward such schedule change messages to crew control for the required changes to the crew roster system.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Monitor passenger load figures for a seventy-two (72) hour window of operations with a view to ensuring the correct number of cabin crews on board.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Update the passenger loads again at least three (3) hours prior to STD.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Liaise with the OC regarding changes of the aircraft and flight rescheduling.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Work out crew Flight Time Limitations in situations of delays, etc. and advise all concerned accordingly, including subsequent crews.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Update the shift log as required.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Obtain authority from DOC prior to any use of Off Days.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ensure correct and proper understanding/signing of all memos and documentation.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Informing DOC of any abnormal situations that may occur.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ensuring the proper and economic handling of all communications media at OC.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ensuring personal data is used appropriately and never divulged to outside parties.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Monitor flight progress through movement control and take the required timely actions accordingly. Suggest to the DOC improvements to policies and procedures that may contribute to better economic efficiency or added value to the service.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Any other duties that may be assigned by the DOC / OC from time to time.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Experience, Qualifications and Skills&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Minimum of two (2) years of experience within airline operations.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Must have thorough knowledge about the contents and legal importance of both the Civil Aviation and/or other applicable regulations, as well as the contractual limitations of crew based in Malta and abroad.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Must be proficient in the use of IT especially the Crew Management DCO software, Movement Control and related programmes.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Be capable of presenting reports, and precise and concise communications, verbal or otherwise.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Have good communication skills so as to follow the required office etiquette and prudence when communicating with crews.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Be proactive in the formulation of checklists and keeping of records relating to the economical and legal upkeep of the roster and the actioning and monitoring of daily changes.&lt;/li&gt;
